Ensuring that your business complies with relevant legislation

Our HR Documentation guide is to help you understand what requirements your business needs to ensure you comply with relevant legislation

comply with relevant legislation

HR documents can help protect yourself and your team members if something goes wrong

Running a business requires paperwork and contracts.

Understanding what your business needs will vary between each business. Some foundations that we recommend strongly to all businesses and organisations are:

Employment contracts

Developing an employment contract for each employee, including trainees and apprentices, will ensure that your obligations as an employer and your employee’s expectations are agreed upon in a legally binding contract. We can review applicable awards, pay rates, allowances, and the inclusion of discretionary clauses such as restraint of trade and vehicle compliance. Our contracts are comprehensive and remain up to date with changing legislation.

Employment contract templates

We can provide you with a contract template for each award and each type of team member (full-time, part-time or fixed-term, casual, trainee) and Contractor Agreement templates. You can use the contract template for multiple team member contracts. It is customisable if you wish to edit the clauses. However, we do not recommend this option unless you have spoken beforehand with a HR Expert or the Fair Work Commission.

Position descriptions

Outline the role and responsibilities of any given position within your business or organisation. Position descriptions are important when benchmarking performance and managing expectations.

Team Member Handbook

These are essential for businesses to ensure that the expectations and responsibilities of the business are clearly expressed. Team Member handbooks outline your expectations of your Team Members.

Our Team Member Handbooks include both legislatively compliant policies as well as policies and procedures to manage your business and meet your minimum legal obligations effectively. Team Member Handbooks outline individual company policies, performance reviews, the different kinds of leave owed to your Team Member, flexible working arrangements, and performance counselling and disciplinary actions policy.

The handbook also informs your team of policies and procedures relating to attendance expectations, driver’s licence & business vehicle requirements, credit card usage, and computer and internet policy, for example.

Our Handbooks are comprehensive and adhere to relevant legislation, including Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards (NES), Disability Discrimination Act, and the Racial Discrimination Act.

There are a variety of HR Documents we can help you create and adapt to suit your business or organisation

Some examples include Salary benchmarking, induction and onboarding processes, advice around leave, annual performance reviews and performance management. We can advise and assist with employee terminations, casual conversion, return to work, policy development, policy reviews and legal compliance. We are also trained in workplace investigations and providing mediation.
