General

The who, what, where and how of Total HRM. If you still have more questions, please get in touch with us, and we’d be happy to help.

We have been locally owned and operated for the last 14 years. Our Managing Director, Linda Griffiths-Brown, and her husband, Dave, have owned the business for the last seven years and have grown year-on-year. We currently have 11 people on the team dedicated to providing our community with exceptional HR support and service. Our team members have, on average, over 20 years of industry experience.

Our offering is unique in the market, with services across three core areas: Recruitment, Human Resources and Coaching, Training & Facilitation. We work with our clients to build their capacity through any project we implement together. Using our diverse range of experienced consultants, we are proud to provide global experience and expertise in a regional setting.

You can visit our office at 409 Tribune Street Albury or follow along with our social media pages to keep up to date. For ways to get in touch, please see our Contact Us page.

We offer fixed-rate packages for some services and hourly or daily rates for HR consulting. Contact us to have a customised proposal developed.

We’ve worked with hundreds of businesses across various industries, providing them with advice and tools to help their businesses succeed. We work with clients who are hiring their first employee to large organisations. We work across all industries, from hairdressing to manufacturing, accountancy to wineries, and councils to cafes.

Primarily the North East and Murray Riverina regions. We have clients in Sydney, Gippsland and as far away as Western Australia. We can deliver our HR support via remote services and travel to work with clients as needed.

We provide advice across the whole HR lifecycle, whether it be employment contracts and advice around complying with legislation in the start-up phase of your business, strategic planning and growing your business, or mediation and investigations when things get messy. We also help businesses and organisations with performance management processes and employment termination to ensure minimal risks.

We either work on a project-by-project basis, such as recruiting a new team member, training your team, or for a specific piece of advice. Alternatively, we can act as an extension of your team whereby we provide consistent HR services to your organisation and might work a day or two per week on-site.

We can partner with your HR Manager if they need specialist advice for an issue, to develop a long-term HR strategy, or to help them achieve their day-to-day workload. We can fill any gaps that your HR team may need assistance with.

We work closely with BlandsLaw, employment and commercial law experts based in Sydney. We often host informative events with their Principal and Founder, Andrew Bland.

Yes, we do. Our consultants have over 20 years of industry experience and are up to date with the latest trends and legislation. For complex issues, we partner with Blands Law, who specialises in employment law.

HR is an integral function for all businesses, regardless of what stage of the business lifecycle you’re in. As well as ensuring compliance, HR can help businesses by setting them up for people’s success. We support the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to termination, and can create strategies you need for growth and improvement.

We are a locally owned and operated business and have a team of experienced professionals. We are not a traditional recruitment agency – so we don’t charge a percentage of the salary. We act as a HR Partner in your business. We do not guarantee that we will find a suitable candidate, nor do we usually provide a replacement guarantee. We work hard to ensure the candidates we find will work with your business. We work closely with your business to build skills and capabilities within your team and ensure you comply with legislation. We can help you mitigate people-related risks for your business.

Yes, we have team members with experience in conducting mediation between team members to ensure that the organisation gets the best possible outcome for all parties concerned.

Yes, we have team members with extensive experience in assisting organisations with terminations, ensuring compliance with legislation while minimising any costs associated with the termination.

It depends on the services you require. We have experts in HR Management, Recruitment, Training & Coaching – no matter which of our team members you work closest with, you will be in safe hands. Visit our About Us page to learn more about the team.

It’s entirely up to you and your business needs. Our team members have, on average, over 20 years of industry experience, and we invest in our team, ensuring our advice is contemporary and compliant with ever-changing legislation. A HR call can be a great addition to have on hand, and we provide that service – and you will know the person you are talking to rather than a faceless person from a call centre. We believe we offer the most value because we know and understand your business – it’s not a transaction for us; it’s a relationship. We live and work within the community, so we understand the different requirements in our area.

HR Services

Are you looking for more information about our HR Policies, Employment Contracts, and Team Member Handbook? What is Outsourced HR? Any questions you still have, please get in touch, and we would be happy to answer.

HR Documentation

Yes, we certainly do. We have a team of HR Professionals who have experience creating policies and procedures compliant with legislation tailored to your business/organisation and industry.

There are several essential policies and procedures to cover you legally, depending on your business size and industry. We can work with you to determine what you need.

A team member handbook is a collection of the policies and procedures that apply to you and your employees. Think of it as a guide to a great employee/employer relationship. It helps set the expected conduct for the organisation.

In most cases, no. We offer comprehensive contracts that cover all your key terms. If there is anything unique to want to include in your offer of employment negotiations, we can customise these contracts in line with relevant legislation.

An employment contract sets out the engagement agreement. It removes the grey caused by verbal and handshake agreements, No matter how big or small your organisation is.

Outsourced HR

Outsourced HR is where we have one of our consultants join your team. We can work with you on-site or remotely, whatever works to ensure we give you the best support possible. We can be there one morning a month or one day a week. Our team becomes part of your team.

The benefits of using outsourced HR are not only the cost savings on administrative costs, but you will also have the support of professionals who can guide you on compliance with employment law, risk management and industry best practices. Our qualified HR professionals have experience in a wide range of industry sectors and use their first-hand knowledge to enhance employee wellbeing and business improvement.

Strategic Services

Yes, we can. We work with businesses from start-ups to large organisations. Growing too fast might mean you don’t have the right people, policies, procedures, and systems to cope with your growth. We can meet you at every stage of your business. Whether hiring the right people, assisting with strategic planning, providing support to get your systems and policies right or training and coaching your team to give them the skills to take your business to the next level.

You may be surprised to know just how many organisations don’t have a business plan. Our business planning techniques will help set your business up for success and keep it on the right track.

There are a few types of business planning tools and methodologies we use depending on the size of your organisation. However, all business plans become a ‘Plan on a Page that are dynamic documents that you use and refer to on a day-to-day basis, not a once-a-year document that gets filed away.

Training & Workshop

Our most common questions about our Training and Workshops programs are answered here. As always, please call us if you have more questions.

Developing your people for professional and personal growth is a must. When you invest in your people, you invest in your business. Employees that get the opportunity to grow and develop will most likely want to stay with your business.

Training and workshops are great ways to build your skills and knowledge base. Our approach to training is that “knowledge is power”, and we want to impart our specialist knowledge to you. We offer a range of courses to build individuals up in areas that may be new to them or where they may not be comfortable.

We offer a wide range of training delivered through public workshops and can tailor private training for your organisation. We have our core workshop offerings such as Workplace Resilience and Wellbeing, Personality profiles (DiSC) and Genos EI, as well as specialised training to support skills like time management, difficult conversations, and so much more.

No, we are not. We offer non–accredited training delivered by accredited practitioners.

We will work with you to fulfil your training needs. We appreciate that the needs of different businesses vary, and we are confident that we can tailor a course to suit what you are looking for. If you’re unsure of what type of training might be best for your business, our team can work with you to conduct a training needs analysis and present you with the most effective options for you to consider. Please call or email us to discuss this.

We do. Visit our Workshops page to see our calendar of upcoming public workshops.

Of course, we are happy to come to you!

Not a problem. We have our dedicated training facility at the front of our office in Albury, which we can use for your team’s training. For more information about The Training Space, please visit www.thetrainingspace.com.au.

Recruitment

All it takes is one phone call to get started. We have a successful recruitment process, which comprises us getting to know exactly what you want in a position and who your ideal candidate would be. We want to develop a clear idea of who we are searching for. We develop your ad and start advertising, searching and screening candidates.

We are experts at finding your ideal candidate – we don’t just submit anyone who applies. We have processes specifically developed to find the right people for your team. The main difference is our level of expertise and specialist understanding of the market. We also provide advice on the best ways to find suitable candidates.

Yes, we can organise police checks if it is required. More and more clients are requesting police checks for recruits.

Psychometric testing provides a range of assessments to help you screen and select candidates with the highest potential, enabling you to objectively evaluate candidates – not just based on the skills required for a given role but their role and culture fit with your organisation.

We won’t submit candidates who do not meet our high standards. Nor will we offer you the traditional five candidates to choose from. We pride ourselves on delivering quality over quantity and do not usually offer guarantees unless specifically requested.

Careers: Jobseekers

Once we receive an application, we will review it against the criteria. If your application is identified as a potential match, we will invite you to a brief video screen where we will ask further questions to understand your suitability.

We then begin the interview process and further assessment depending on the needs of the role. Once a preferred candidate is selected, a formal offer may follow. We keep all applicants updated on their progress throughout the recruitment and selection process.

We use video screening to assess your presentation and ability to use technology and to understand your interpersonal skills in a modern workplace environment.

Yes, you can submit your resume directly via info@totalhrm.com.au, and we will add it to our confidential database.

We use our database to search for candidates with suitable skills for a role. If you are on our database and we have your most recent resume, we may contact you with an invitation to apply for a role. We encourage you to follow our Facebook and LinkedIn page, ‘ Total Careers,’ and regularly check for new job opportunities on our Careers page.
