Moving into a leadership role can be a big shift. New leaders are no longer responsible only for their own work, they also need to set expectations, communicate clearly, support their team and manage performance.

Stepping Up to Lead is a practical one-day workshop designed for leading hands, team leaders, supervisors and people who are new to managing others.

The workshop provides participants with practical tools, greater self-awareness and a clearer understanding of what effective leadership looks like in the workplace.

What you’ll learn

During the workshop, participants will explore how to:

  • Understand their leadership style and adapt their approach
  • Set clear expectations, priorities and goals
  • Communicate effectively with different people
  • Give constructive feedback and approach difficult conversations
  • Understand key HR, Fair Work and workplace safety responsibilities
  • Address performance issues appropriately
  • Build motivation, resilience and a positive team culture

Practical and workplace focused

Participants will complete a personalised DiSC profile and use practical activities and real workplace examples throughout the day. DiSC is a behavioural profiling tool that helps participants better understand their own communication and leadership style, as well as how to adapt their approach when working with others.

Participants are also encouraged to bring a current workplace challenge to the session, allowing them to apply what they learn and develop practical strategies they can take back to their workplace.
