Meet the Team: Kelly

Updated: Feb 17

We’d like to introduce you to our newest team member, Kelly Barr!

Kelly comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and a diverse background that will be an asset to our varied clientele.

Kelly moved down from Sydney about 17 years ago and has been in the Albury Wodonga region ever since, although she still considers herself to be new to the area. Kelly has just finished up almost two years of nearly back-to-back maternity leave; in that time, she reckons she has tested every coffee venue in the region! Her favourites are Meraki Produce, Thick as Thieves, and Muriel’s on David but now she is in the office and ready to get stuck into streamlining our own business processes, as well as helping clients achieve the best business efficiency they can.

Kelly comes from a background in the Early Childhood Sector, where she worked in service and operations management for 11 years. She managed people in various sized teams before overseeing a cluster of Early Childhood Services before joining the Victorian Government NRM for the next six years. In her time with the government, Kelly had various duties from Board and Committee administrations to Finance, and of course, providing HR administration.

At TotalHRM Kelly is officially titled ‘HR Business Partner & Business Systems Lead’, although if she could title herself, it’d be more along the lines of ‘Other duties as required!’

Everywhere I have worked I have found that I have spent 5% of my time delivering on 95% of my PD, and the other 95% of my time was always dedicated to that last line...other duties as required. But they are also the tasks I love to do that many others don't – I see the dishwasher that needs to be unpacked or the meeting rooms that need to be booked or the new starter who hasn't had a laptop ordered.”

We are so excited to have Kelly join the team and start organising Linda’s calendar! As great as Kelly is, and she’s pretty great, one thing she’s really bad at is replying to texts. It must be in her efficiency-oriented brain but it’s much quicker to just give her a call if you need anything.

A self-confessed sports nut & Springsteen tragic, Kelly enjoys listening to ‘The Howie Games’ podcast, but is more likely to be listening to Bruce Springsteen on repeat.

The best concert she’s been to? Bruce. Any of the 5 times she’s seen him live – and she’d go another 5 times if he tours again.

She can be found on the weekends enjoying the foodie lifestyle afforded to us in the region enjoying many of the cafes, restaurants, wineries, breweries around – although with two young children I’m sure her weekend are slightly different now. Kelly enjoys getting to local footy games as much as she can, whether it be locally in North Albury, or taking a drive around the region to a game.
